I received my MSW from Yeshiva University in 1983. I continued ongoing training and professional development at the New York Society for Ericksonian Psychotherapy and Hypnotherapy, as well as the Parsons-Fein Institute for Psychotherapy and Hypnosis. I have been in private practice since 1984.
As a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCADC), I have worked with adolescents, adults, and couples. My experience includes extensive treatment of people suffering from depression, anxiety, eating disorders and relationship issues. I am also a licensed Hypnobirthing® practitioner and offer sessions to pregnant women interested in natural childbirth alternatives.
My therapeutic approach uses an eclectic combination of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing that stimulates the the stages of change for habit cessation, relapse prevention and wellness for disorders.
You are the only one who can make the decision to seek help. If you are having trouble with personal relationships, controlling your emotions, and dealing with the challenges in your life then therapy might be a potential solution. I have worked with thousands of clients over the years to provide a supportive, non-judgmental environment that allows you to freely explore your feelings to develop long-term skills for success.
I tailor my approach to your needs. Years of experience have shown me that clients have the strength to heal within. I view my job as helping you develop techniques to access the resources and strength you already possess to overcome your mental, emotional and social challenges.
Hypnotherapy targets the subconscious mind, where many deep-rooted thoughts and behaviors reside. By guiding you into a deeply relaxed state ("trance") the mind becomes more open to suggestions and change, which we can use with tailored suggestions that help you change certain behaviors, perceptions, and feelings.
